Charles Clinton Hayward, 81, formerly of Riverside Drive, passed away on Sunday evening March 11, 2012, at the New Hampshire Veterans Home in Tilton.

Mr. Hayward was born in Brewer, Maine on October 18, 1930, a son of Clyde and Frances (Gould) Hayward.

Charles served with the US Navy and worked for many years as a chef at the Eagle Mountain House in Jackson.

Family members include a niece Rebecca Mulaire of Berlin, 4 nephews, Russell Hayward of Greece, Kenneth Hayward of Bucksport, ME, Stephen Hayward of Littleton and Eugene Hayward of Chicago, IL, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by his parents, a brother Clyde Hayward and a niece Catherine Hayward.

At Charles’ request there are no services. Burial will be held in the Woodlawn Cemetery, North Brewer, ME.

Lucille H. Chaloux, 88, of Wight St., Berlin, NH passed away on Thursday March 15, 2012 at her home. She was born on September 27, 1923 the daughter of Edward and Alice (Martel) Hayes and was a lifelong resident. She graduated from Berlin High School and was a homemaker who was very dedicated to her children and grandchildren. Lucille was an active supporter of Special Olympics, was a member of St. Kieran Church and was a member of the Hybernians. She loved crafts, ceramics and golf but her favorite pass time was traveling.

Members of the family include her children Michael Chaloux and companion Lucy Breton of Gorham, NH, Glenn Chaloux and wife Donna of Tallahassee, FL, Patrick H. Chaloux of Berlin, NH, Kathy Valliere and husband Zip of Berlin, NH, Mary McGrail and husband Michael of Newfields, NH and Teresa Alonzo and companion Rob Couture of Gorham, NH; eleven grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; her sister Norma Combs of Bend, OR; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Patrick A. Chaloux, her son James Chaloux, brothers Rex and Bert Hayes and sister Anita Turcotte.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday March 19, 2012 at 11 AM at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish. Interment will be in the St. Kieran Cemetery. Janet C. Ramsay, 80, formerly of High Street, passed away March 16, 2012, at St. Vincent de Paul Health Care and Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Ramsay was born on May 8, 1931 in Berlin, NH a daughter of Langford and Edith (Ells) Crowell. Janet was raised in Berlin and was a graduate of Berlin High School. She married Richard H. Ramsay Jr. and together they lived in various locations during his 22 years in the service. They later returned to Berlin in 1968.

Family members include five sons, Richard H. Ramsay III of Berlin, Thomas S. Ramsay and wife Carolyn J. of Windham, ME, William P. Ramsay of Manchester, John L. Ramsay and significant other Sheila Westfield of Center Conway, NH and Charleston, SC and Frank J. Ramsay and wife Kerry of Milford, MA, 3 daughters, Elizabeth A. Domino of Berlin, Capt. Susan J. Ramsay (Salvation Army) of NY and Ellen G. Lannon and significant other Darrell Ireland of Burlington, NC and 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; one brother Langford Crowell of CT, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Richard, 2 brothers David Crowell and Robert Crowell a sister Margaret Ellis.

Callings hours will be held on Sat, March 24, 2012 from 2-4 PM at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin. A funeral service will be held in July at a date and time to be announced at the New City Cemetery. She was born in Berlin on August 23, 1920 the daughter of Joseph and Emma (Rheaume) Roberge and was a lifelong resident. She was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne, the AVH Auxiliary and Good Shepherd Parish. Cora loved to knit and belonged to a sewing circle with her friends. She was loving wife, mother and grandmother and loved all of her friends dearly.

Members of the family include her husband Joseph Birt of Berlin, NH; daughter Nancy Pickford and husband Thomas of Berlin, NH; son Charles Birt and wife Debra of Manchester, NH; grandchildren Thomas Pickford, Katherine Lodge and husband George and Alyssa Birt; step brother Arthur Fortier of Berlin, NH; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by siblings Sylvio Roberge, Yvette Thibault and Paul Roberge.

Theresa was a member of St. Kieran Church, now Good Shepherd Parish, she loved flowers, gardening, birds, playing cards, shopping and going for rides. Most of all, she loved her family.

Members of the family include her son John Moulton of Dummer; her daughter Susan Morin and her husband Leo of Berlin; two granddaughters Jessica Roberge and Jennifer Roberge; two great grandsons Zachary and Cody; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Oliver Moulton in 1991, and her brothers John, James, Robert, Thomas and Francis, and by her sisters Agnes and Lena.

Leonard J. “Fred” LaCroix Jr., 50, of 3 Exchange St., Gorham, NH passed away on Saturday March 31, 2012 at the Country Village Center in Lancaster. He was born in Warwick, RI on July 11, 1961, the son of Leonard J. LaCroix and Beverly G. (Bula) LaCroix, and lived in Connecticut until moving to Gorham in 1986, where he has since resided. He operated Mr. Pizza and Welsh’s Restaurants in Gorham. Fred was an avid Harley Davidson fan.

Mary Jane L. Durdan, 91, of Maynesboro St., passed away, Wednesday morning, April 4, 2012, at the Androscoggin Hospital, Berlin.

Mrs. Durdan was born in Berlin, NH on October 16, 1920, a daughter of Wilbrod and Inez (Walsh) Brady.

Mary Jane was a life long resident of Berlin and was a graduate of Berlin High School. She obtained her Bachelors Degree and nurses training from the Catholic University in Washington, DC. She worked for the City of Berlin as a teacher and was also the Director of St. Louis Hospital School of Nursing in Berlin.

She was a member of Good Shepherd Parish.

Family members include a son James Durdan and his wife Clarissa of Gorham and a step-daughter Beverly Sykes and her husband Lee of S. Portland, ME. And many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Ray Durdan, a brother James Brady and her sister, Sr. Grace Brady.

A Mass of Christian will be celebrated on Monday morning April 9, at 11 AM at St. Anne Church. Interment will follow in St. Kieran Cemetery in Berlin. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave, Berlin, Saturday afternoon and evening April 7 from 2-4 and 7-9.

Norman Cote, 80, formerly of First Ave., passed away Wednesday morning April 4, 2012, at the Coos County Nursing Home, Berlin. Mr. Cote was born in Berlin on July 1, 1921 a son of Conrad and Yvonne Fournier Cote. Norman was a member of St. Joseph Church , now Good Shepherd Parish.

He is survived by a brother Eugene Cote of Berlin and Florida; three sisters, Rita Finson of Berlin, Lorraine Hanna of Ormond Beach, FL and Louise Boucher of North Java, NY and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Jean Paul Cote.

“Opa” to his family and members of WMRHS bands, field hockey, soccer and basketball teams of the 1990s

Jerry Odell was born on June 26, 1921 to Ella (Schultz) and Eugene Dudley Odell in White Plains, NY. He attended schools in White Plains and graduated from White Plains High School in 1940. Jerry worked at Pratt and Whitney in Hartford, CT, prior to enlisting in the US Army Air Corps in 1942. He served overseas in Egypt, Iran and Iraq. He was discharged in 1946. He worked in the Berlin Post Office from 1948 until 1979 when he retired.

Opa met his wife, Doris Mae “Oma” (Currier) of Berlin, NH, while working in Hartford, CT, and they were married in 1944. They were together until she passed away in 1989.Family members include two sons, Jon of Berlin and his partner Becky Merrow and Stephen of Portland, OR, and his wife, Lily (Zhou) Odell; four grandchildren, Jakob Odell and his wife Heather (McGinnis) of Albany, NH; Joshua Odell and his wife Paula Rodgers of Germantown, MD; Kristin Getbehead and her husband Jon of Atlanta, GA; and Allison Odell and her partner Scott Fudacz of Chicago, IL. He also leaves behind five great-grandchildren, Sophia and William Odell of Albany, NH, Dena and Hannah Getbehead of Atlanta, GA, and Wesley Odell of Germantown, MD.

He was a member of the local square dance club, The Paper Town Pacers.

Jerry attended St. Paul Lutheran Church. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made in his memory to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 101 Norway St., Berlin, NH 03570.

She graduated from Woodbury High School in 1955 where she played field hockey, softball and basketball. Maxine moved to Berlin in 1959 after her marriage. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, enjoyed playing golf and doing arts and crafts, was a former 4-H and Girl Scout Leader for many years.

Gorham, NH—Doris T. LaBonte, age 84, passed away on April 22, 2012 at her home in Cascade Flats surrounded by her loving family.
Doris was born in Berlin on August 27, 1927, a daughter of Peter and Beatrice (Bolduc) Bourque. She attended local schools and was a lifetime resident of the area. Married for 57 years to Armand LaBonte, together they raised a son and a daughter.
Doris loved her family and loved life. She had tons of energy and was always ready to have fun. The most optimistic person you would ever hope to meet. She always greeted you with a big hug and a warm smile. Her positive attitude was to be admired. She would always say how she was blessed to have such a wonderful family and that every day was a gift. What she didn’t realize was that she was the gift!!
Her husband, Armand, passed away in 2009. She is survived by her son Peter LaBonte and his wife Judy of Tamworth, NH, her daughter Monique Turcotte and her husband Richard of Silver Lake, NH. She will be profoundly missed by her grandchildren Nicole Turcotte, Peter (PJ) LaBonte and Brandon Turcotte.

Mr. Lucien L. Bergeron, 88 of Arlington Street in Berlin passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.

He was born in Berlin, NH on June 11, 1923 the son of Theodore and Marie Anna (Dube)Bergeron and lived in the Berlin area most of his life. He was a US Army Veteran of WWII and prior to his retirement worked in the local paper mill for 44 years working in the boiler house at the Cascade Mill. He was a member of Good Shepherd Parish. He enjoyed being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; playing the fiddle and accordion, and hunting and fishing.

Members of his family include his son Walter Bergeron and wife Jackie (Bedard) of Canaan, NH; his grandchildren Laurie Skinner and husband Colin of Meriden NH and Keith Bergeron and wife Ericka of Enfield NH; great-grandchildren Evelyn Maeve Skinner, Kane Lucien Bergeron and his fiancée Lucille Lavoie of Berlin, and many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Lucille (Dion) Bergeron and 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

Graveside service will be held on Friday May 11, 2012, at 11 AM in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Berlin.

He was born in Berlin, NH on December 2, 1971 the son of Maurice A. and Marjolaine H. (Lapointe) Lambert and was a 1990 graduate of Berlin High. He graduated from White Mountain Community College in 1990 and served in the US Navy. Steven had been a Quality Assurance Engineer in Hartford, CT and was currently employed as a Senior Systems Analyst for United Healthcare in Windsor, CT.

Members of the family include his mother Marjolaine H. Lambert of Berlin, NH; his sister Diane C. Lambert of Berlin, NH; his fiancee Lanese Foley of Manchester, CT; 2 nephews Joseph Carmichael of Brunswick, ME and Eric Carmichael of Franklin, NH; his godmother Carmen Mosca of Berlin, NH: Steve loved hockey and will be missed by his hockey family. He is also survived by his many friends, both in NH and CT. He was predeceased by his father, Maurice Lambert.

Edward R. Warren, 68, of East Side River Rd, Dummer, NH passed away on Tuesday May 1, 2012 at the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook, NH. He was born in Haverhill, MA on July 13, 1943 the son of the late Edward R. and Irene (King) Warren, Sr. and grew up and was educated in the Haverhill area. He served in the US Army and had been a bus driver for many years, before he became medically disabled. He met his wife, Dorothy, in 1978 and resided in the Dover-Barrington, NH area, prior to moving to Dummer in December 2001. Edward liked hunting, fishing and going for walks.

Members of the family include his wife Dorothy E. (Arnold) Warren of Dummer, NH; siblings Michelle, Carol, Michael, David and Tommy; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by siblings Diane and Norman.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday May 4, 2012 at 11 AM at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 9 to 11 AM, prior to the service. Interment with full military honors will be held in the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH on Monday May 7, 2012 at 11:30 AM.

Christopher C. Ottolini, 34, of 387 Coos St., Berlin, NH passed away on Tuesday May 8, 2012. He was born in Manchester, NH on May 9, 1977 and lived most of his life in Berlin. He graduated from Gorham High School and had been employed by the State of New Hampshire, Recreation and Parks Department. Chris enjoyed camping, snowboarding, his work, playing guitar, fishing and spending time with family and friends.

Members of the family include his mother Susan Fortin of Berlin, NH; his father Gary Ottolini and his wife Deborah of Weare, NH; his brother David Fortin and wife Mary of Killeen, Texas; his sisters Kimberly Fortin and companion Corey Roy of Berlin, NH; Taylor Grondin of Dover, NH, Sarah Grondin of Manchester, NH and Tracy Deardsell of Manchester, NH, nieces and nephew Aubrey and Natalie Roy, Madison, Matayo and Skye Grondin; paternal grandmother Lucille Ottolini of Berlin, NH; aunts, uncles and cousins.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin on Friday May 11 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Prayers will be held at the end of the evening session of calling hours.
